- Designate a special space: Evaluate the space your pet will need based on its size and physical activity. This will help your pet feel comfortable and secure while allowing you to maintain order, especially if you live in a small apartment. It will also help prevent accidents with their food bowl, water, toys, or bathroom area.
- Ensure good hygiene in the home: You’ll need to clean your house frequently to prevent diseases for you, your family, and your pet. Equip yourself with cleaning items that help eliminate hair, odors, and germs. Also, consider cleaning the area your pet uses as a bathroom. If possible, establish a routine for them to get used to doing their business outside. Take them for walks to take advantage of the moment; be a responsible owner and don’t forget to carry bags to pick up their waste.
- Opt for easy-to-handle fabrics: We know that sometimes it’s difficult to keep your pet off the couch or bed, so we recommend that towels, curtains, and bedding fabrics be easy to handle and clean. For comforters, you can opt for those with removable covers. You can also use patterned fabrics to make pet hair less visible.
- Rearrange your home: Consider that pets have their instincts, so there will be times when they want to chew or scratch an object; sometimes cables are attractive to them for this activity, so you should find a way to make it difficult for them to reach them. A good option is to place or rearrange furniture in a way that prevents them from accessing any risky areas.
- Keep dangerous objects out of reach: If after moving the furniture, you still consider that there are dangerous or toxic objects for your pet, try to find something to help you keep them out of their reach; boxes with airtight lids could work for storing these items. Keep in mind that cats can reach high places, so their safeguarding will require extra attention.
