How to manage emotions in these times?

Rodrigo Martínez Nowadays, when we are all working remotely or in different places, it is important to maintain constant and continuous communication. This communication is critical to be successful. Here we tell you 6 tips to manage your team being in “Stay at home” 1. Reset your expectations Think about whether it is important to review and restore expectations about how the work is done, allowing the team to fulfill its responsibilities on its own terms. This means focusing on results and offering more flexibility. 2. Maintain regular contact It will be important to assess what the team as a group and each team member needs: a call at the beginning of the day, or at the end or more effective communication to maintain morale and commitment. Use instant messaging. Set the expectation that everyone is present and not distracted. 3. Assign friends or collaborators to have mutual support Meeting the needs of each member will quickly exhaust the capacity of most managers. To distribute that responsibility, organize team members into pairs. This shared leadership model creates a second layer of mutual support and protects against emotional isolation. 4. Model optimism and drain fear equipment Optimism is contagious. Leaders who demonstrate hope and confidence are those who have the greatest impact at uncertain times. You can use humor as a relief valve. 5. Update even if there is no update Uncertainty fuels anxiety. Communicate regularly even if you don’t have any new information to share. Maintaining transparency is important to show empathy and concern for your team. 6. Know the stress level and commitment levels of the team Make it clear to your team members that your main concern is your well-being. Take time to monitor your commitment by periodically doing each team member. Humans are hyper-social creatures who long to belong. And psychological security, where your team members feel included, safe to learn, safe to contribute, and safe to challenge the status quo, all without fear of being shamed, marginalized, or punished in any way, is paramount even in conditions of quarantine. When you create and maintain these conditions, you allow them to continue to perform and contribute, and perhaps most importantly at a time like this, you recognize your humanity.
